As a traditional Jewish family we have always loved sharing our simchas/celebrations with our friends and have loved experiencing theirs and have in the past shared Christmas meals with friends. However, this year was to be a first for us, celebrating an entire Christmas with our special friends. From the anticipation felt by the kids on the days leading up, to Christmas morning finally arriving. What a beautiful time we were blessed with. Grandparent's, do not worry, the kids are still very acutely aware that they are Jewish, thanks Jaz for providing us with the channuka gelt!! They did however, thoroughly enjoy themselves, especially when they discovered that Santa had kindly dropped off some gifts for the Gore family too!

Christmas morning, pyjamas and all. What a lotta loot!!! How does Santa get into houses without chimneys we wonder??

The aftermath.

Aden's funky new shoes.

Santa really does know you! Robbie's Christmas treat, a bottle of red and lots of Turkish delights!!!!

Boaz thoroughly enjoying his croissant and mulberry jam for Christmas breakfast while reading his new books. Thanks Santa.

A special moment amongst all the excitement.

The famous day bed swing. Do you think this would fit inside the caravan?

Time to burn off all that sugar.

Time to have some more!!! Our journey has provided the kids with a lot of opportunities to read. Between them they have read volumes with one series in particular capturing all 3 of them, Harry Potter. This all began around the time of Papa's visit, and since then they have been devouring the series. Can you imagine their excitement when they discovered all the Harry Potter movies in the Godden's DVD collection!!

Just a quick nap to recharge the batteries.

The chef extraordinaire!! Wow, if we thought that it was only Jewish festivals that were all about food, then we were quite mistaken. We ate and ate and then ate some more! Appetisers, entrees, main meals and multiple desserts, perhaps you were supposed to choose, we just ate everything!!! We must say that our most favourite thing was the decadent Christmas pudding with brandy butter...mmmmmmm or was it the Christmas trifle, or the prawns.....??.
It was really such a privilege to be invited to share the Christmas celebrations with their family. This year, in particular, has been a very difficult one as Michelle's father passed away only a few months ago. Even with this noticeable absence they brought in Christmas as a strong family unit and so graciously included us as well. Thank you so very much.
