Coral Bay (part 5) So long, farewell, aufwiedersehn, goodbye

Well, one more day won't hurt will it??????

On our last last day we visit Five Fingers, another 4WD out to do some more beautiful swimming and snorkelling. On the way out we drive past the jetty, where the kids spent many days jumping off into the water.

This is us heading down to the beach track with Fab in the lead. We felt so lucky to be with people who know how to safely access these magic places.

Driving along the beach is still such a wonderful novelty for us Victorians.

They tried to tell us this was their Statue of Liberty pose.

Can you see why we are finding it so hard to leave????

After driving up a large sand dune we stop to appreciate the views.

This was truly, really, we promise, to be our last night, and we celebrated in style. Mandy spoilt the kids with party poppers and sparklers and Jack and Timna spent the afternoon preparing dessert.

It certainly did not last very long. (Dessert that is)

The main road in Coral Bay is a no through road. This is the entrance to the other caravan park and Finn's Cafe, a favourite for all kids and adults alike. This is where we shared many iced chocolates and ice creams after an afternoon at the beach.

After finally packing the van, we all met at Finn'ss for one last iced chocolate or sundae. When we first met theses guys they told us about their 'pose'. They have some of the most awesome photographs taken over the past 2 years in their 'pose'. We join them for one last time.

Some of us were quite reluctant to leave!

Walking as slowly as possible back to the van, trying to stretch out our last moments.

Adam thought that by perching himself on the A frame he could delay us from leaving.
When that failed he tried seating himself in the car!

Special friendships forged in a very special place.

Off to Carnarvon, the food bowl of WA, to fill our bellies, fridge and pantry with yummy fruit and vegetables. Carnarvon produces 3/4's of W.A's bananas. Mmmmmmmmm.......

E.C.S

This turnoff we will be returning to in a couple of days to explore Quobba and Gnaraloo Stations.
But first let us see what Carnarvon has to offer.

We came for 7 days but we stayed for 16 as Coral Bay had an amazing impact on us all. Benj in particular has taken our exit quite hard, as he grew very attached not only to special friends but to the lifestyle we were able to lead in this remote seaside village. He explained that he felt very grown up and had grown quite accustomed to the routine and level of independance he was able to enjoy. We certainly understood what he was expressing...............

  1. Gosh, I'm almost in tears all over again. Hard to believe that we will be gone this time next week. After reading all this and how wonderful it all is, I'm leaning towards staying again!!
