Kata Tjuta ( Many Heads )

One of the many nice things about travelling, are the people you get to meet. Way back somewhere between Port Augusta and Coober Pedy, we met 2 families at a rest stop. At the time we chatted as you do, where are you going, where are you from, how is your van travelling. We then continued on our way. They followed us to Ribas in Coober and now we meet again at Ayers Rock resort!! Here we swap adventures over some beers and share some sing alongs with Robs guitar. Little did we realise at the time that we were soon going to be sharing some great memories with them!!!!.
After the big day of walking around Uluru yesterday, we head off back to National Park this time to see Kata Tjuta ( the Olga’s). Kata Tjuta directly translates to many heads.
There are a few options for the walk around the Olga’s. We opt for the middle walk, 5.5 km. This takes us to the  2nd look out, through the Valley of the Winds.

The weather has certainly warmed up, but it is a lovely dry heat.

The texture of this wonder is quite the contrast to Uluru. In Rob’s words it is like football to egg size boulders all stuck together in mud. Or what your stools look like after eating corn!!
This walk proved a lovely change from the flat base walk of Uluru, however it certainly stirred some fresh fears in Timna. Despite all, we did over hear Timna talking with a mother and son at the completion of our walk, that the view from the 2nd look out was just incredible.

Some of the other friends that we have made along the way.

More beautiful wildflowers

A beautiful spot for a picnic…

This is the view from the 2nd lookout. If only photographs could adequately illustrate how high we had actually climbed and how beautiful the vista.

The seat we are recovering on is a magnificent ironbark wooden bench/couch that would look perfect at home! Home for a well deserved ice cream and swim.
Tomorrow we farewell the Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park and head to Kings Canyon.
